Decent value, room for improvement

I purchased the Hydroponic Kit and some Culinary Herb Seeds. The kit itself seems pretty solid for the price. Shipping was a bit slow, took about a week and a half to reach me in Florida, which was longer than I expected. The herb seeds germinated fine, no issues there. I wish the kit came with a more detailed instruction manual, I had to look up a few things online to get started. Overall, it's a good option if you're not in a rush and like a good selection of seeds, but a quicker delivery time and better instructions would make it even better.

Good seeds, quick shipping

I ordered the Heirloom Non-GMO Vegetable Seeds and they got here pretty fast, like 4 days to California. Everything looked good and the packets were sealed well. Planted some lettuce already and it's coming up!

My new favorite seed store!

Oh my gosh, I just received my order for the Vegetable Seed Vault Kit and a bunch of other stuff like the Tomato Seed Variety Pack. Everything arrived so quickly and was packed perfectly. I can't wait to get these in the ground! The variety is amazing and knowing they're heirloom and non-GMO makes me so happy. I'm telling all my gardening friends about Gardeners Basics. I will definitely be a repeat customer!

Quick question, can you use more than one coupon code at checkout on Gardeners Basics? Got a free shipping thing and a percentage off code.

J Josh L. 2 months ago
Nah, pretty sure it's just one code per order. Tried it myself once and it only took the first one.

B Beth 2 months ago
pretty sure it's just one promo code at a time. you can probably still get free shipping if your order is over a certain amount without a code though, check for that.

Has anyone ever returned opened seed packets to Gardeners Basics? Accidentally bought too many of one kind.

R Ryan 2 months ago
From what I remember reading, they usually don't take back opened seed packets. It's for quality control reasons, you know?

R Rosa 2 months ago
i don't think so. most seed companies won't take opened seeds back. kinda makes sense though, can't guarantee what happened to them once they're out of the original packaging.

Is Gardeners Basics legit? Or one of those sketchy sites? Thinking about a big seed order for my homestead.

P Paula 2 months ago
Totally legit. I've ordered from them multiple times and never had an issue. Seeds always sprout well.

J James 2 months ago
They're fine, definitely not sketchy. All their seeds are non-GMO and heirloom too, which is a big plus for homesteading. No worries there.

how do these seeds compare to burpee's? i usually get my stuff from burpee but gardeners basics has a nice looking variety pack.

S Sam R. 2 months ago
Gardeners Basics focuses more on heirloom and non-GMO, which is different from Burpee's broader range. If you're into pure heirloom, GB is probably better.

They're both good, but GB has a better selection of true heirloom stuff if that's what you're after. Burpee has some hybrids mixed in which isn't always what I want. Germination rates are good on both usually.

Hey guys, thinking about getting one of those big survival seed vault kits. Anyone know how long those seeds actually last if I store them right?

J Jared Doyle 2 months ago
Yeah, they're supposed to last a super long time, like years and years if you keep them cool and dry. I've had some of mine for 5+ years and they're still good.

They say indefinitely if stored properly, like in a cool dark place. I've heard up to 20 years for some seed types, but definitely non-GMO and heirloom means they keep their traits.

Anyone ordered from Gardeners Basics to, like, New York City? How long did shipping take for a regular seed order?

N Noor 1 month ago
I'm in Brooklyn, got my last seed packet order in about 5-7 days. Pretty standard.

For NYC, probably a week, give or take. Not super fast like Amazon but not snail mail either. Don't expect it overnight.
